Uzbekistan's external debt has exceeded $72 billion for the first time.

In the first half of 2025, the country's total external debt reached 72.2 billion dollars.

According to Central Bank data, the state external debt amounts to $36.8 billion, while corporate external debt amounts to $35.4 billion. The amount of external debt per capita is $1,907.

Compared to 2024, the volume of external debt has increased by $15.6 billion. In just the months of April–June, the debt increased by $3.8 billion.

It is forecasted that the state debt will reach $45.1 billion by the end of the year and exceed $53 billion in 2026. This could be around 37.9 percent of the gross domestic product.
