According to the Associated Press, on November 10, a small turboprop plane crashed into a pond in the Coral Springs residential area near Fort Lauderdale. As a result of the incident, two people were killed, but the plane did not cause damage to any houses.
Coral Springs police confirmed there were fatalities but did not disclose information about the individuals in the plane. Rescue operations were carried out after emergency services arrived at the scene, and later the operation transitioned to a "search for bodies" phase.
The Beechcraft King Air plane, manufactured in 1976, took off from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport at 10:14 and crashed in the Coral Springs area after just 5 minutes.
For reference, in Jamaica during October, Hurricane Melissa damaged more than 120,000 buildings and left nearly 90,000 families homeless. It is said that the plane was carrying humanitarian aid to alleviate the consequences of this very hurricane.
