Anti-government protest demonstrations have been ongoing for five days in many cities of Iran. They have become the largest protest demonstrations since 2022.

"If Iran shoots peaceful protesters as usual, the United States will come to their aid," wrote the US President on the TruthSocial social media platform. "We are on full alert."

Ali Larijani, an advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned that Trump should "be cautious," threatening disorder and instability across the Middle East if the US decides to intervene.

The American president did not explicitly state in his post what exactly the United States intends to do. In June 2025, the United States began airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities under Trump's order.

At least six people have been killed in anti-government protests in Iran against the rising cost of living.
