The order noted that all orders issued on or after September 26, 2024, and set to take effect after December 31, 2025, have lost their force.
This decision nullified nearly ten orders adopted by Eric Adams over the past eighteen months. Among them were orders prohibiting city employees from participating in boycotts against Israel, authorizing immigration officials to conduct prison inspections, banning horse-drawn carriages, and defining antisemitism for workers.
At the same time, Mamdani also signed five new executive orders. Three of them are aimed at improving housing conditions in New York City, protecting tenants' rights, and reducing bureaucratic obstacles in housing construction for underserved populations.
The last order signed by the new mayor envisions the creation of a new city department responsible for public engagement.
For information, Zohran Mamdani won the November elections and entered history as New York City's first Muslim mayor. He is 34 years old and will serve a four-year term.
