This contact is considered the first communication after Trump's statement about the possibility of taking military measures against Colombia.
According to Trump, work has begun to organize a meeting in Washington, but a specific date has not yet been announced. According to "Reuters," Gustavo Petro also described the call as "sincere and based on respect," emphasizing the importance of restoring relations between the two countries.
It is worth noting that relations between the leaders of the US and Colombia cooled after Trump left the White House.
