According to Reuters, the amount of payments and the mechanism for their implementation have not been precisely defined yet. However, one-time payments ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 per person have been discussed in the White House and other official circles. This proposal is being considered by the US within the framework of a scenario to separate Greenland from Denmark.

Officials in Copenhagen and Nuuk have repeatedly emphasized that Greenland is not for sale. At the same time, it is noted that for Greenlandic society, which has been debating the issue of independence and affiliation with Denmark for years, this proposal could be perceived as insulting.

It is known that Copenhagen and a number of European leaders have expressed a negative attitude towards the statements by US President Donald Trump and White House officials regarding Greenland. In particular, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Denmark issued a joint statement, asserting that the Greenland issue should only be resolved between Denmark and the island itself.
