Two citizens who stole two Damas cars in the city of Tashkent were sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment. The Tashkent city Police Department's information service reports this.

As it was determined, 20-year-olds M.B. and T.B. entered another person's Damas, which was parked in the Yashnobod district, taking advantage of the fact that the door of its cargo compartment was open.

Using a screwdriver to remove the plastic part of the steering wheel and connecting the wires to start the engine, they managed to drive away. However, while moving in the Yangihayot district, the car stalled. Unable to restart it, they opened another Damas parked nearby and drove it away, according to the Police Department information.

They were stopped by road patrol service officers and taken to the internal affairs bodies. It was found that M.B. had previously been convicted under Article 169 of the Criminal Code (theft). It was revealed that they had pre-planned to steal and appropriate the vehicle.

We had been looking for work for a long time. That day, we wandered around Yashnobod district looking for a job, and we ran out of money. We were tired of walking on foot. It was around one o’clock at night. Transport vehicles did not stop on the street. We decided to get home by driving away a Damas car that was parked in a parking lot. We intended to return it the next day. However, it stalled on the road. We left it there, says one of the thieves in their statement.

According to Major Bakhtiyor Abdukhalilov, who investigated them, the boys stick to their story, having agreed upon it beforehand.

As if this excuse would serve to wash away their sins. The Criminal Code does not say that there is no punishment for stealing someone's vehicle with the intention of "getting home at night." During the preliminary investigation, each of them began to shift the blame onto each other in an attempt to avoid punishment, says the head of the investigation department at the Yashnobod district police department.

The case was heard in an open court session of the Yashnobod district court, and M.B. and T.B. were found guilty under Article 267 of the Criminal Code (vehicle theft). Applying Article 57 of the same code both were sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment.
