On April 6, two men who participated in the half marathon in Madrid died due to heart issues. This was reported by "Eldiario.es."
It was noted that one of the deceased was 35 years old. He suffered a heart attack 500 meters before the finish line. Although he was taken to the hospital, doctors could not save his life.
"The second deceased was 20 years old, and although he was quickly brought to the hospital, he passed away there," the report stated.
A total of 27,000 people participated in the half marathon, and 50 athletes required medical assistance.
For reference, the Madrid half marathon has been held for 24 years. In 2010, a 31-year-old athlete lost consciousness and died after crossing the finish line. In 2005, a 24-year-old man from Madrid suddenly died while participating in the race.
