Putin will continue the war until the West accepts his terms. Reuters reported this.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to continue the war until the West agrees to his peace terms, despite the threats from U.S. leader Donald Trump," the agency reported, citing sources close to the Kremlin.
According to them, as Russian troops advance, Putin's territorial demands regarding Ukraine may also increase.
Sources say Putin believes that the Russian economy and armed forces can withstand any additional measures from the West. Putin also trusts that Russia can endure economic difficulties, such as possible tariff rates imposed by the U.S. on buyers of Russian oil.
"Putin believes that no one, including the Americans, has seriously discussed peace terms with him regarding Ukraine. That is why he will continue the war until he achieves his goal," said one of Reuters' sources.
According to him, Putin values relations with Trump but considers Russian interests to be paramount.
