In Surkhandarya region's Uzun district, a 27-year-old driver operating a Nexia 2 vehicle struck an 8-year-old girl crossing the pedestrian walkway. The victim died at the scene. This was reported by MY5 TV channel.
It was stated that despite the presence of a nearby school warning sign, the driver failed to reduce speed. As a result, he hit the 8-year-old girl crossing the pedestrian walkway, causing her death. The deceased's mother demanded stricter punishment for the driver in court.
“When I was driving alongside a cargo truck, a child suddenly ran out from behind it. I hit the brakes, but still collided with the person,” the driver said.
According to the court's ruling, he has now been banned from operating any type of vehicle for 2 years and deprived of freedom for 5 years. The sentence is to be served in a penal colony.
