US President Donald Trump is planning a three-way summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on August 22. The news was reported by Axios, citing two sources.

According to the sources, Trump's initiative followed phone conversations with Putin and Zelensky. However, the Kremlin has not yet given definitive approval for the meeting.

As noted by Reuters, Zelensky rejected the condition of ceding the Donetsk region to Russia. Putin, during his conversation with Trump, expressed readiness to discuss "security guarantees" for Ukraine but proposed involving China as a guarantor as well.

As emphasized by Axios sources, the Russian president is demanding the withdrawal of troops from Ukraine's eastern regions as a condition for peace. He indicated readiness to halt offensives in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions in exchange for troop withdrawal from Donetsk.

Additionally, it was reported on August 18 that Trump had scheduled a meeting with Zelensky at the White House, with invitations extended to leaders of European countries as well.
