On August 29, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Center of Islamic Civilization, the construction of which has entered its final stage. This unique project was initiated based on the Presidential Decree of June 23, 2017, and its foundation was laid on the day of Eid al-Fitr in 2018.
The structure is being built based on national architectural traditions, combining a high dome, four iwans, and exquisite patterns. A 65-meter-high dome has been built in the center of the complex, with four 34-meter-high iwans on its sides.
The most important part of the Center – the Holy Quran hall – will house the ancient Uthman Mus'haf, as well as copies and translations of the Quran written during the periods of various dynasties. The final finishing works in the hall were reviewed, and the President gave a number of recommendations.
The complex will include a 460-seat conference hall, as well as sections such as "The First Renaissance" and "The Second Renaissance," "Pre-Islamic Civilizations," and "New Uzbekistan – New Renaissance." Through these, the scientific and educational heritage of the great scholars, thinkers, and ulema in our nation's history will be showcased using multimedia tools.
The President outlined the scientific research directions for the Center's activities, emphasizing the need to establish cooperation with international Islamic studies organizations and to find scientific solutions to modern challenges.
Furthermore, the head of state also familiarized himself with the trade and service facilities built around the Center and paid special attention to their importance for the development of tourism.
"Guests visiting this place will witness the rich history of our people and the knowledge and thinking of our ancestors," said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
