According to WHO data, nearly 3.4 billion people currently use toilets that do not meet their needs. Due to lack of sanitation and hygiene, nearly 1000 children under the age of five die every day from water-borne diseases such as diarrhea.

Climate change is also exacerbating the problem, causing contamination of water sources through floods and droughts.

The organization emphasized that this situation can be resolved through sustainable investments, strong management, and accurate data.

Governments are called upon to upgrade sanitation infrastructure and ensure that every person has access to a safe toilet.
