The U.S. has called on its citizens in Iran to leave the country immediately. The U.S. Embassy in Iran issued an official alert about this.
It is noted that security measures in Iran have currently been heightened, some roads are closed, public transportation is disrupted, and internet access is restricted.
The embassy stated that the Iranian government continues to restrict access to mobile and landline communications as well as the national internet network.
It was also noted that airlines are limiting or canceling flights to and from Iran. U.S. citizens are advised to consider the possibility of leaving Iran by land via Armenia or Turkey if it is safe.
The embassy advised citizens currently unable to leave the country to find a safe place, prepare supplies of food, water, and medicine, monitor local media, and stay in constant contact with loved ones.
We remind you that on January 13 of this year, the U.S. Department of State also urged Americans in the country to leave the area immediately due to the protests taking place in Iran.
