Reports about financial shortages observed in religious institutions in Uzbekistan and the embezzlement of funds spread on social networks.
The Muslim Board stated that the report contained a number of allegations that were not true.
It is emphasized that, according to its Charter, the Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan is a non-governmental non-profit organization and does not engage in any commercial activity. The religious administration's expenses are covered by donations received from mosques, pilgrimages, and various charity works.
The collected funds are spent based on an approved budget, and the financial transactions are constantly monitored by the Supreme Council of the Muslims of Uzbekistan, the Audit Commission, the judiciary, and tax authorities. Specifically, from November 1 to 12, 2024, experts from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, employees of tax authorities conducted an audit on the compliance of legislative documents and the legality of financial activities in the Religious Administration.
As a result of the audits, the report by the Ministry of Justice noted that there were no financial shortages or illegal activities in the Religious Administration.
Moreover, the Audit Commission thoroughly inspected the financial activities of the Administration of Muslims of Uzbekistan for 2021-2024 and reported to the Supreme Council of the Muslims of Uzbekistan that these processes comply with the current legislation.
