Two colleagues from "Temiryo‘linfratuzilma" JSC, born in 1988 and 1992, who worked at the Bukhara regional railway hub, dissatisfied with a management decision, devised a criminal plan. On the evening of January 14, 2024, they placed 110 kg of reinforced concrete sleepers on the rails at the "Ziyovuddin–Navoiy" railway section in Pakhtachi district and fled the scene.

After 15–20 minutes, the "Afrosiyob" train, traveling at 159 km/h with 148 passengers on board, collided with the obstruction. As a result, the train's driving components were severely damaged, with estimated losses amounting to 260 million soums.

Through coordinated efforts by the State Security Service and other law enforcement agencies, the suspects were apprehended and prosecuted under Article 161 ("Sabotage") of the Criminal Code. The Navbahor District Court found them guilty, sentencing one to 13 years and the other to 12 years of imprisonment.
