Today, on August 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev awarded a group of sector representatives on the occasion of Entrepreneurs' Day. The press secretary of the head of state reported this.
Among those awarded was the former mayor of Tashkent, entrepreneur Jahongir Ortiqhojaev, who was honored with the "For Dedicated Service" order.
For reference, Jahongir Ortiqhojaev led the city of Tashkent from 2018 to 2023.
On January 16, 2023, he was personally criticized by Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a meeting on energy resource supply held in the presence of the President, accused of being "out of touch with reality," and subsequently dismissed from his position.
After being relieved of his duties, Jahongir Ortiqhojaev did not appear at government events for a considerable period.
By 2024, he began participating in state events again. For example, he attended the President's meeting with entrepreneurs in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, as well as a dialogue with representatives of the business community in the presence of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
