During an operational event held in the Dangara district of the Fergana region, three individuals who were retrieving opium hidden in a field were detained. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this.
The event was conducted in cooperation with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, and the Customs Service. Four kilograms of opium substance in polyethylene packages buried in a field near the Kokand-Tashkent highway were officially documented as material evidence.
During the investigation, it was revealed that these individuals had previously been held accountable for drug-related crimes. One of them is a woman born in 1997, and the other two are men born in 1989 and 1974; it was determined that they are members of a transnational "drug group" also operating in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Regarding this case, a criminal case has been initiated under Articles 246 and 273 of the Criminal Code. Operational measures to identify and apprehend the remaining members of this group are currently ongoing.
