At a meeting at the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs, Deputy Minister Mehmet Aktaş emphasized the high level of strategic cooperation between the two countries. During the negotiations, the Turkish side expressed its readiness to consider a number of key initiatives for citizens of Uzbekistan: • Electronic work visas: The possibility of implementing a simplified mechanism for citizens of Uzbekistan to obtain electronic work visas is being explored.
Legalization on-site: The possibility of granting work permits to Uzbek citizens who are in Turkey under other visa categories without leaving the country will be considered. • Combating illegal migration: The parties agreed to work together to create a unified electronic database for the effective registration of persons illegally staying in the territories of the two states.
Furthermore, the two countries discussed preparations for signing a cooperation memorandum between the Ministries of Internal Affairs to regulate the fight against illegal migration and the organized return of citizens to their homeland. Separately, at a meeting at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Musa Kulaklıkaya noted that Turkey and Uzbekistan are united by a common history, culture, and religion.
During the negotiations, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in developing political rapprochement, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation, emphasizing that cooperation in the field of labor migration has long-term prospects.
